Rowing

Modern longboats are based on an ancient Celtic design and originated in Pembrokeshire during the 1970s. Rowing longboats is a popular sport in Wales and there are now over 60 boats competing against each other in West Wales with teams going on to compete both nationally and at the world championships in the Scilly Isles.

Rowing is one of the fastest growing sports in the county and attracts all ages from children to eager adults. It is not just for locals as some clubs also offer the opportunity to join them either on a one off “have a go” session or as team members. Competitions run throughout the season and more details can be found here. The peaceful nature of the sport also allows you to get up close to the huge range of wildlife which inhabits the Milford Haven Waterway.

See the map for more details on rowing on the Waterway.
