Hotel Stays For Special Times

Enjoy a luxury experience for your next holiday in Milford Haven

Continuing our series of posts detailing where you can stay in the Milford Haven region we turn our attention to hotels (rather than B&Bs) that offer outstanding value and a touch of class to holiday makers looking for that sort of thing.

A good night’s sleep is absolutely essential when it comes to enjoying your holiday and for that to happen most people need to be given a certain level of comfort. Of course, when we’re on our holidays we like to treat ourselves to a luxury experience that surpasses our own rooms at home. When you’re paying upwards of £50 per night for a room you expect to be treated well and that means a bed that still feels new, fresh sheets and a general fresh feeling that makes one feel as if they’re the first to stay there.

After a series of brief stays in the following places we have deemed the following places to be of a good standard. Subsequent research on popular reviews sites has confirmed that they uphold this level of service throughout the seasons:

Lord Nelson

We understand that certain tourists might balk at the notion of sleeping above a pub, but this doesn’t necessarily have to be bad thing, especially when you consider the comfort and value that is on offer at the Lord Nelson. Once visited by the actual Lord Nelson, the Grade II listed pub was refurbished in 2016 and offers visitors to Milford Haven comfortable rooms in an ideal location on the harbour. Food is served there daily and the bar is one of the most popular locations in the town.

Beggars Reach Hotel

Follow Milford Haven inland until it becomes Cleddau Ddu and then take a left turn up Priest’s Lake to discover Beggars Reach Hotel, an immaculately presented hotel run by Gill and William, a happily married couple of 28 years and proud workers of the hospitality industry for nearly 40 years. Although this lovely hotel is set a fair way back from the Milford Haven Waterway, it offers comfort and tranquillity that you are unlikely to find at some of the busier establishments closer on the harbour.

A journey down the peaceful Cleddau Ddu will once more be required should you wish you spend the night at the majestic Slebech Park. Connected to the main waterway via number of smaller rivers, this is the ideal country retreat for holiday makers looking for that extra special touch of luxury. With buildings dating back to the 11th century, staying at Slebech Country Park is like stepping back into time – you can even take part in activities whilst you’re there like shooting, water safari and wood turning.

Bed & Breakfasts Worth Their Salt

Stay for the weekend and enjoy a Full Welsh Breakfast!

The Milford Haven Waterway is in direct competition with many other areas of outstanding natural beauty throughout the country, so it should come as no surprise that the region’s hospitality trade is one that is constantly updating and evolving to keep up with modern trends.

Whilst areas like the Forest of Bowland and Blackpool might still rely on more archaic forms of accommodation such as caravan parks or static caravan sites, Milford Haven does not have to rely on advertising residential park homes for sale to sustain tourism in the region.

A dynamic community of B&B owners keep the spirit of traditional hospitality alive whilst constantly innovating to ensure that the are remains competitive with the rest of the country:

Angle Bay B&B

On the outer rim of the Milford Haven Waterway lies Angle Bay B&B, a well presented Bed & Breakfast that puts you in the centre of the Pembrokeshire National Park, not to being mention just a stone’s throw away from Angle Bay itself, a beautifully serene cul-de-sac of the Milford Haven Waterway. Their locally sourced cooked breakfast highlights the very best of what the region has to offer with fresh local eggs and seaweed gathered from Freshwater Beach.

There are always plenty of beds to spare at the Heart of Oak, that’s not because their service is bad it’s simply because they have so many rooms. There are plenty of places to stay in Milford Haven, but if you’re looking for a comfortable bed that won’t set you back a fortune then the Heart of Oak Inn is the place for you. One thing to bear in mind though is that you’ll need to rise early if you want to make the most of their breakfast as it’s served between 6:30-7:30am.
